La ricerca di Andrea Frosolini ha origine dall’osservazione di pratiche comunicative contemporanee con l’intento di offrire nuove visioni e punti di vista tramite processi di sintetizzazione digitali della realtà.
Parte del processo artistico prevede l’ideazione di metodologie di sintetizzazione della realtà, da azioni semplici ediconiche legate alla comune esperienza del digitale come drag and drop, merge, crop; ad azioni complesse come estrusioni e riempimento contenuto. L’elemento texture diviene un pretesto per raccontare crudamente la realtà, da una parte convertendo in un’unica forma il rapporto, quasi inscindibile, che intercorre tra superficie, volume e contenuto; dall’altra legittimandolo come spazio potenzialmente infinito di contestualizzazione del reale. Seppur i gesti attraverso i quali l’artista opera siano spudoratamente ed ironicamente di provenienza digitale, i lavori di Andrea Frosolini rimangono fortemente ancorati alla realtà, grazie all’utilizzo di forme ed immagini ultra- attuali.
L’archivio di informazioni ed immagini dal quale l’artista preleva segreti, confessioni e scandali è costituito e prende le sue radici da icone e movimenti della cultura pop ‘90-’20, flirtando con la rapidità e le modalità effimere dell’ultra- attualità. Riferimenti legati alla produzione artistica più recente provengono dall’analisi di trend e challenge, di cui esamina lo sviluppo e la diffusione nelle principali piattaforme sociali (Youtube, TikTok, Instagram etc), instaurando una connessione tra l’iper-produzione artistica e l’eccessivo consumo/produzione di fast fashion.
Parte della ricerca dell’artista si concentra sulla costruzione e ri-definizione dell’identità, riflettendo sulla perdita di personalità dell’uomo nell’età del pensiero mercificato. Tramite pratiche di prelevazione e ri-contestualizzazione di subculture e community web-based (Biker, Furry), strettamente connesse alla scena LGBTQ+, l’artista mette in scena sistemi finzionali, una critica schietta ma ironica sulla standardizzazione del pensiero umano contemporaneo.

His artistic process involves crafting methodologies to distill the essence of reality—from simple, iconic digital gestures familiar to us all, such as drag and drop, merge, and crop, to more intricate actions like extrusion and content-aware fills. Texture becomes a raw narrative device, both unifying the near-inseparable relationship
between surface, volume, and content into a single form, and legitimizing it as a potentially infinite space for contextualizing the real. While the gestures Frosolini employs are brazenly and ironically digital, his work remains deeply rooted in tangible reality, achieved through the use of ultra-contemporary forms and images.
The archive of information and imagery from which the artist draws secrets, confessions, and scandals is built on and rooted in icons and cultural movements spanning from the ‘90s to the 2020s, blending seamlessly with the rapidity and ephemerality of today’s hyper-contemporary media. Frosolini’s recent artistic references emerge from analyzing the evolution and spread of trends and challenges across major social platforms (such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram), thereby establishing a link between hyper-production in the arts and the relentless cycle of consumption in fast fashion. A significant portion of his research focuses on constructing and redefining identity, pondering the loss of individual character in an era dominated by commodified thought. By appropriating and recontextualizing elements from web-based subcultures and communities—like Biker and Furry, tightly woven into LGBTQ+ culture—Frosolini stages fictional systems that offer a candid, yet ironically playful critique of contemporary society.
